When she was a teen, Padukone played in many National badminton competitions. She eventually gave up her passion for the game when she decided to be a professional fashion model. Padukone's native language is Konkani. The model is Mangalorean in her origins. Her ancestors hail from the village Padukone located in Kundapura Taluk, in the Udupi district of Karnataka state of India. Her father, Prakash Padukone, is a retired badminton player of global repute. Her mother is a travel consultant.
